This pulley kit is often used on engines without a dry sump pump to allow 3 different fan speeds and prevent fan and alternator damage on high revving engines.Easy change top pulley can be swapped out for street or strip use
Pulley kit comprises of a precision machined stainless steel hub which is permanently attached to the alternator with the standard nut. 3 different sized pulley are supplied which give different drive ratios The smallest pulley gives the standard ratio for standard fan speed the larger pulleys reduce fan speed and allow you to fine tune fan speed for your application-Top pulleys are easily swapped by removing the five M6x12 cap screws.

VW Speed Shop belt tensioner
This new design of tensioner has larger bearings than most other tensioners and a larger diameter roller
to reduce bearing rpm.Slide mechanism has much longer travel which allows use of one belt size to fit
all top pulleys. As with all tensioners the alternator pedestal may need attention to produce a flat mounting
position for the base,the roller must sit perpendicular to the belt travel for correct operation
Crank Trigger
Due to the small diameter of the pulley and position of the sensor make sure there is sufficient
clearance between bracket and back of pulley some tweaking maybe required set sensor gap between
0.5mm and 1mm
Hubs
3 hubs are available. Plain steel hub for use without crank trigger, steel hub with 36-1 tooth pattern uses sand sealand
the stainless hub with reverse thread like stock pulley and 24-1 tooth pattern

Old sizes with BMD tensioner
Dry sump bottom pulley with smallest top pulley gives standard fan speed -5 PK 838
Intermediate size-5 PK 848
Largest top pulley gives slowest fan speed-5 PK 858
The 5PK848 will just fit with larger top pulley but a little tight at first
Belts are readily available from most good Motor Factors
New belt sizes
Due to the new design of the tensioner which has larger diameter idler and extended travel
one size belt should work with all top pulley diameters. The size range is 5pk 858 to 5pk 870
